The book is very insteresting, and offers good insight to astrological prediction. However one should keep in mind it was written before 9/11. It seems that some believe the mundane chart for the USA may not be the one that the author refers to in his book. The author suggests a Gemini rising for USA, while since 9/11 it seems that many now suggest the Sagittarius rising suggested by Sibly may be more appropriate. This may or may not be relevant when reviewing the mundane prognostications put foward by the author.Very readable however, and many of the author's more personal discussions are very interesting.

Fantastic

I haven't received it yet, but Noel Tyl who I've met several times, is an amazing fellow who knows his stuff like few others, aside from perhaps Robert Hand and Gary Christen. Too bad we can't keep his head preserved like they do on "Futurama" as he's got so much wiggage it's a shame for him to take it with him into the afterlife. The book on "Midpoints" by one of his students is also a good book and one of the few on the subject.

While there are some things I disagree with astrologically on with Mr. Tyl, his writing is excellent and this book will give you a great introduction to prediction, specifically with solar arcs. The introductory chapters contain stories about some of the great predictions done in astrology and are worth the cost of the book itself. He has written another book, later, on Solar Arcs which I would recommend also, but this is an old classic that if you can find you should buy.

This was Mr. Tyl's first book keyed to solar arc prediction. I actually liked it better than some of the later ones. One reviewer criticized Noel for using the Gemini rising chart for the U.S. That chart only needed a minor tweak to fit the 9/11/01 attacks on the World Trade Center. The Sibly chart with Sagittarius rising is malarkey.

I have gifted this book to my father as I heard lot of time from my father that this book is excellent. I am not the original person who is using this book. So nocomment from my side. Thanks

Would not even give it 1 star ... have never rated a book before, however this one is ridiculous, totally non-informative rant about how great this guy is and how he should be paid more by insurance ..... he is totally naive in regard the economic debt system and basically an ignorant individual asking you to pay for his self promotion ... if he really is called Moses, it is a pity the sea did not end it's parting while he was in it. In the past I have had spent thousands of dollars seeking healthcare help when things were looking dark in my life. I heard about this magnet treatment, and checked it out even though my insurance didn’t cover it.  I was surprised how immediately my life turned around.  I wanted more information on this topic and see how I could get my family to participate and found Durazo’s writings.  As far as I know, he’s the only person in the biomagnetic field that is actually writing content that is practical and motivating from both a personal self-care perspective and one of encouraging people to participate in improving healthcare worldwide.  Causing a shift can be as easy as making a phone call and/or sending a letter to the insurance company…or how about sending them a copy of this book so they know what you’re talking about.  I know my healthcare needs have greatly diminished even though I’m now paying for this service out of pocket – I do wish my insurance paid for it though. Â

This book is a great reminder that we have a voice and we need to use it. We can't Expect the insurance companies to move forward if we are not being vocal and telling them how great biomagnetism is, how it is helping our families, and that we want it covered. Don't wait for someone else to do it. Great Book. Highly recommended

The quality of writing is adequate, even good, but the story is hard to grasp, like a based-on-a-true-story historic saga that you start watching when it’s already a quarter of the way through.

Make Me a City is a lot of book to read. It is indeed slow going and just frustrating at times. I usually like this type of sweeping saga story, but I got stuck with this one. Maybe too many facts and not enough story to carry it along. Chicago's development through the 19th century is an epic journey, but this book just doesn't quite capture the grandeur of that. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book is difficult to read. Previous reviews are all from some "get to read the book before it's published, but please leave a review" operation.This is neither a serious historical fiction, nor an entertaining read. Avoid.

Although the book is historical fiction, it read more like a history book than a novel. I was hoping for more of a storyline to run through the book rather than the relatively dry recitation of facts presented through disjointed episodes. The book was definitely more informative than interesting.

I’ve only been to Chicago a handful of times but I absolutely love the city and was so looking forward to learning the history. But this book did not live up to my expectations. Each chapter covers a specific timeframe of a year or more starting in the 1800’s and it moves between different events, happenings, and following several different people. I didn’t care for the flow of the story, when I would just got interested in one chapter, the next one would be on a completely different subject.All was not completely lost though, I did learn many facts that I did not know before, such as the raising of the city, the sewage problem and the building of the canal, but I felt like the story was shallow on human interest and could have been told in a more fluent manner.My biggest con on the entire book was the flow. I would not consider this an actual novel, it is a medley of historic facts from eyewitnesses, hearsay, newspaper articles and letters. Not what I was expecting. If you are a history buff, it may appeal to you.I was given an advanced copy from Henry Holt and Company through Net Galley for my honest review, this one gets 3***’s.

I'm a fan of the TV show Justified, every week I would see the name Elmore Leonard during the opening credits and I would say to myself " I gotta google this guys works! ", well when I finally did google Elmore I realized I was familiar with some of his work I just wasn't familiar with Elmore. Turns out he penned a few favorites of mine 3:10 To Yuma, Run Punch( which became the film Jackie Brown) as well as a series of books which became the TV show Justified. I just received a Amazon Fire as a gift and I wanted to try using it to read and maybe even listen to a book, lots to choose from but something about synopsis for this book, Pronto, made me decide to make this my first kindle \ Audible purchase. This book did not disappoint, from the get go there is suspense and mystery sprinkled with adventure. The Raylan Givens character is such a cool bad ass, he won't hesitate to play by the bad guys rules if it comes to that. I was hoping the Raylan I knew from the show would be present in this book and he sure was, the short and skinny of why I bought this book is I F'N love this character. The story was interesting and easy to follow. A great thing about reading on a Fire pad is being able to switch from reading to listening and vice versa, I would start reading in bed or on the couch and then switch to listening when I get up to wash dishes or fold laundry and when my chores are done I can switch back to reading. I was very pleased with the narration by Alexander Adams, he did Raylans Kentucky accent spot on and his Italian accent and women's voices were totally believable. As for the pace of the story it was as smooth as silk. I can't think of anything I didn't like about the book, if I had to nit pick something it might be a few of the conversations between characters rambled on a little to long for example at one point Harry plays a tape recording of bets he took as a bookie and they just ramble off placing random bets after bets it was a lot of " I'll take green bay 40 times at 2 and Houston 30 times at 5" that goes on for way to long. A big selling point about this book for me was that from what I had read about this book, Pronto, it seemed to hint the book ends up somewhere the TV show Justified begins. I was very pleased with this book and I will definitely be reading the next book in this series Riding The Rap.

Like many reviews here, I was drawn to Pronto after being sucked into the life of Raylan Givens on tv. I thought to myself that I had to read the spark that out the fuse for such an explosive show.I enjoyed picturing Timothy Olyphant acting out the witty dialogue and capping the baddies, although the novel breathes life into Raylan all by itself and even if you haven't seen Justified, I can't imagine you'll enjoy Pronto any less. I actually noticed a couple scenes from the show that were displayed a bit differently in the book, I could still see the inspiration for the show.All in all Pronto is a great book, with funny, dangerous and like able characters putting on quite a fun show.I tip my "cowboy hat" to Mr.Leonard

One of the absolute best, funniest, and entertaining reads you will ever feast your eyes and thoughts on. This is one of those I cannot put it down books. You say to yourself over and over, just few more chapters and I will go to bed and get some sleep. Sure...And you find yourself still reading at two thirty in A.M. I am Justified junkie and I am so happy to have read this novel . I love that they took this great character and made him and some of his cohorts into a fantastic TV mini-series. Pass this book by and you have missed some great riveting entertainment.If you accomplish nothing more in life you should make a real attempt at reading all the Elmore Leonard books you can get your hands on but be warned it may place a real strain on your marriage or relationship.

PRONTO by Elmore LeonardI've never read Elmore Leonard before, but I am a huge fan of the TV series "Justified," which is based on his short story, "Fire In The Hole." The novel "Pronto," is the first novel in which Leonard introduces the Raylan Givens character (main character in the TV series). With Leonard's recent passing, I decided to dive into those novels which featured this character.Leonard had a laid back writing style that was easy and enjoyable to read. In this novel, the story is told through each of the character's perspectives, allowing the reader to see all events from multiple viewpoints. Although it is definitely Raylan's story, it is also equally the story of the other characters, all interwoven into an exciting adventure, racing from the US to Italy and back. Although I haven't read enough of Leonard's work featuring the Raylan character to be sure, I believe the final action of the novel is the set up for "Fire In The Hole," providing the reason for Raylan's transfer back to the Harlan County, KY offices of the Marshall Service.Like most novel series characters who jump to the small screen (well, some home screens aren't so small anymore, are they?), Raylan's backstory in the novels is a bit different than in the series. Winona (ex-wife) is less important and certainly described less attractively than Natalie Zea, who plays her in the tv series! Also, in the TV series, they have no children (until the 4th season, anyway), but he has two sons in the novels. However, the basic character is the same, for the most part, and I'm looking forward to reading the next novel in this short series, "Riding The Rap."No problems with editing, proofing, etc. A thoroughly enjoyable read as Raylan tries to keep the rascally Harry Arno and Arno's girlfriend Joyce, alive and out of the grasp of Tommy Bucks (aka The Zip), and the rest of the gangsters out to make sure all three return home in a pine box.

Great novel with a steady rhythm and a really good writing, a good development of the main character, but also the secondary actors, I really like the detail and closeness to the personality of the main actors, good and bad.I discover the novels after finishing the Justified television series, and was greatly pleased when I find various of the main situations in the best episodes in the series in their original form as parts of the book (and in the second one, which I'm reading now).I strongly recommend this book.
