It's only 12 pages of actual music, but what a neat book! It starts out low enough that a pretty new student of trumpet can start right in. The highest note in the first 8 exercises is G in the staff, to give you an idea.The idea this book is based on is that a player can't master the high range without having a solid low range. The exercises are really kind of fun, and it's easy to spend an hour or more working out of this book.
The LIP bible. Small wonder it has been in print since the 1940s. I used it as a kid in the '60s, still have my copy, and prescribe it to all students today. When you can play these exercises, PROPERLY, according to author Little's instructions, move on to the Chas Colin Lip Flexibilities books, also in print since the '40s. Special thanks to the seller for lightening quick and secure delivery.
EXCELLENT! This really helps you biild in the correct way. I had stopped playing for 20 years and doubted I could get my lip and tone back. After only about three weeks with this book I am amazed with my flexibility, range, and tone! Great book. Just do exactly what it says to do and in the correct order.
These are routine lip slurs and are quite repetitive. Not much new here.
This book extremely helps you get back in shape and keep your emboucher built up. Any brass player knows that no matter the quality of your instrument, if you're embouchure isn't up to snuff, you won't sound good period. This book gives you a vast assortment of exercises to keep you in shape and I highly recommend it for any level of trumpet player.
I use this with my young students and those older students who go through an embouchure change. Simple, helpful, and worth the few bucks it costs. Put in the time and this will help....just remember to relax and sing when you play, no need blow so freaking hard.
My 14yo daughter actually likes playing the exercises in this book. Sometimes it is hard to get her to practice her trumpet, but with this book she seems to be enjoying it more. Good purchase and price!
It helped me get my lip back after almost 2 years of inactivity.
